Our governance

Our Board of Trustees
Being a standalone academy trust, Longdean School has a board of trustees, who are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the trust, holding senior school leadership to account and overseeing the trust’s financial performance.

The trustee role in an academy is similar to that of a school governor. The trust board is made up of parents/carers, school staff and members of the community. Members constitute the top governance tier of an academy. They have limited powers and a largely hidden role in terms of running the trust but have an important function in providing oversight of governance arrangements. Members receive and adopt the annual report and accounts from the board of trustees.

The Chair of Longdean’s Board of Trustees is Charles Barling, and there is a Business, Finance & Premises Committee chaired by Claire Rumble.
