Exam board: AQA
Syllabus title: Extended Project Qualification
Course code: 7993
Students get to research an area of their choice which interests them. The only restrictions are that there must be academic research on the topic, it cannot be the same as content you are assessed on in your A Levels (although it can be linked) and that there is a sufficient enough debate about the topic to provide a counter-argument.
You are assessed by a 5000 word fully referenced coursework essay, a 15 minute presentation and completion of a learning ‘log book’ about the process of completing the project.

EPQ is completed in addition to your 3 A Levels so is good preparation for any degree level studies as this is completed in a similar way to university level studies. It is also good preparation for careers linked to typical humanities qualifications like law and journalism.
